Courtesy Dosing

We are excited to announce that we will be offering courtesy methadone dosing, to be available during the 13th National Harm Reduction Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. To ensure a seamless process Harm Reduction Coalition is facilitating daily trips to the methadone clinic.

If you haven’t already arranged for your home clinic to send in documentation to the clinic in San Juan TODAY is the day to get that done! Details below.

Requirements

Please review steps, requirements, and information below carefully. There are several steps that need to take place before you can access dosing:

  • Each person’s home clinic must email a signed copy of a guest dosing request form including the signature of the Medical Director and must include dose, amount/frequency of take homes you currently receive. Email to email to and cc .
  • Call this week (787) 754-4100 and ask to speak to Roberto Questell to confirm that he has everything in order. Roberto speaks the best English of the group. If he isn’t available, ask to talk to Magaly or anyone else who can confirm that your documentation is in order.
  • Get a “last dose” letter from your home clinic the last day you are seen there and bring that with you on your first day dosing in San Juan.
  • The day you plan to receive your first dose in San Juan, your home clinic must answer the phone to confirm your dose. Make sure they are aware, please.
  • Get a “last dose” letter from the San Juan clinic the last day you are seen there to bring to your home clinic.
  • If you are traveling with methadone or will be receiving any take homes, you must have a hard cased lock box with a combination lock and you must bring it to the clinic in order to receive your take homes.
  • You must bring a valid state ID or a treatment center ID to receive dosing
  • There is a one time fee of $45 for the administrative work of coordinating guest dosing for the San Juan clinic. This will be paid for by NHRC on October 13th. If you plan on receiving your first guest dose on a day other than October 13th, you will likely have to pay this fee yourself.

Free Transportation

A bus will be leaving the conference hotel each morning beginning on 10/13 sometime between 7-8am. You will receive an email sometime on or before 10/12 with the final exact take-off time and to request your RSVP for this field trip. If you think you won’t have access to email, let me know and I’ll find another way to get in touch.

NOTE: This time is subject to change if the clinic requests it in order to accommodate the additional volume. Days and times may vary due to COVID staffing-related availability.

You may choose to go to the clinic at a different time but HRC will be unable to cover the cost.

Clinic Hours of Operation

  • Monday to Friday: 5:30am – 1:30pm
  • Saturday: 6am – 1pm
  • Sunday: Closed (take home with be given Saturday)
  • Closed for the holiday on October 10th.

It is required for each patient to bring a hard case shell box with a combination lock or a key for a take home dose for Sunday.
